CIO.com & CIO Executive Council запустили инициативу IT Value Matrix & Knowledge Center

Все началось в апреле 2004 года, когда по инициативе IDG CXO Media (издатель журналов CIO Magazine и CSO Magazine), был создан CIO Executive Council, в который сразу же вошло 125 членов, включая CTO DuPont, CIO Federal Trade Commission, CIO GE Real Estate, EVP & CIO Citizens Bank и многие другие именитые CIO... Осенью того же года было принято решение о создании базы знаний CIO. Наконец, все эти работы привели к запуску Knowledge Center (ИТ-вендоры на допускаются ;-) и выпуску IT Value Matrix (постер в формате pdf публично доступен по указанной ссылке), о создании которых можно прочитать в статье CIO.com: "A new IT Vocabulary" .

Цели инициативы:

• To enable senior business executives to understand how IT impacts an organization's financial and strategic performance
• To evaluate mainstream business understanding about IT and the role of CIO
• To demonstrate how CIOs can drive the organization's revenue model

Принципы, заложенные в IT Value Matrix - Seven Keys to IT Leadership:

1. The primary goal of IT is to align with major enterprise objectives. Every initiative must be clearly tied in a provable way to business value.
2. Because all major business initiatives are dependent upon technology, the CIO must have a voice at the table at which key business decisions are made.
3. The CIO is responsible for understanding a business’s complexities, influencing peers and presenting tech-nology strategy in terms the business can understand.
4. Technology leaders are agents of change. Transition is our stable state.
5. Communication and relationship building are as important to IT leadership as technology skills are.
6. Successful technology leadership must strike a balance between competing forces: short-term versus long-term, technology versus business focus, leading versus enabling.
7. The CIO is responsible for cultivating technology leadership at all levels.
